Seeking Help about Appeal. Have been accused of Using AI when I can prove its taken on my phone

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: TRIXY! THE TRICERATOPS
  • Location (lat/lon): 52.443480, -1.769699
  • City: Solihull
  • Country: England

  • Additional Information (if any): I am aware that the plaque’s art itself was created with the help of AI. But the image itself is not AI at all. I am really upset right now, as I’m worried I’m going to get a strike on my account for something I haven’t done. This is a real trail in my local park and was made in partnership with the local council, as shown in the supporting evidence. Zip ties have been used as the local tree wardens did not want screws used in case of harming the trees. These plaques are replaced if they get damaged or vandalised, as they have multiple copies of each one. This is a permanent trail. I want to appeal to the person who reviewed the appeal, as this is a real photo and I can prove it.

This is the photo in question.

Interesting…a printed Ai generated image

My question would be regarding the permanence of it, even though it’s laminated I can’t imagine that lasts long.

Can you screenshot your nomination so we can see the title/description/supporting text and images?

As I have explained, the council that maintains the park has multiple copies from the local printing company that sponsored it. So, if they are damaged or vandalised, they get replaced, like-for-like. I know this for a fact, as I have spoken to the parks team at Elmdon Park myself before nominating these for pokestops. The zip ties are used as the local parks tree wardens do not want to damage the trees or affect their growth. There was a long 2-year process and a lot of discussions between all local authority groups before it was given the green light to be installed. Again I can provide evidence of this in emails.

I shall attach the nomination here for you to take a look. Sorry if I didn’t do that properly in the first place.

Hi there,

From what we can see this would come in as temporary and not a permanent feature, and would not be accepted under this.

However the AI nature of the submission’s contents (the sign not your own photo) does bode a phyisophic question on AI assisted (not not doctored) works

Hey,

I understand what you’re saying and respect your opinion. I agree that whether it’s temporary can be argued. But I am not sure what to do if I’m hit with a strike for being accused of editing the image with AI, as a Scopely staff member has stated in the appeal text. Apart from this forum, I cannot find anywhere to contact an actual human person. The irony being that the only person I can contact from Scopely is an AI bot.

fwiw, your photo is not registering as ai on sightengine.

I believe they make it much clearer if you have been given a strike with a separate email. Did you get a separate email about this?

Staff do read all posts on the forum, and I expect they will reach out to you here.

I sure hope they do take a look at what you’ve just posted there yourself. There is normally a short delay, as it states in the email (up to 48 hours before anything is applied), before they apply a strike, so I will find out shortly. My question is: why does the person who accused me of using AI to edit my photo not use a tool like the one you used yourself above?

There are many tools out there. Did you do any editing to the photo that may have left traces sightengine is unable to detect?

None whatsoever, I actually want to try to test this website out myself. I honestly didn’t even know this was a thing. I have more photos on my phone of the same plaque, and they all look the same. Ill attach them below.

The only other thing I can think of is that the appeals staff seem to have response templates. A guess could be that they were trying to say the ai generated graphic attached to the tree seems temporary or not distinct, but they grabbed the wrong one.

Hopefully staff will be able to reassure you that you do not have a false strike.

I appreciate that mistakes can happen. We are all only human, after all. But fingers crossed they will take a look into this.

Also, thank you for showing me that website; I will find that very useful when doing my own nomination reviews.

Sorry didn’t mean to have you re-explain. Just offering a reviewers perspective to help if you decide to resubmit.

Having the full submission can be useful to us fellow wayfarers as we don’t have access to the same stuff as staff do.

The supporting info should have been helpful for anyone who made it that far into the review. But it still may not have been enough to convince enough to approve it.

The Ai reasoning by appeals staff is not great. I would hope that you haven’t hit any rungs on the abuse ladder and if you have I hope this forum appeal can remedy that.

I have seen people spend weeks trying to get things like this accepted. Every time, they got: “Not permanent”.

This may sound blunt, but I would strongly recommend not wasting your time.

I hear what you’re saying, and it is pretty sad. I can see someone has put a lot of work into this trail, and I have seen a lot of local community members saying their kids loved it. It even has a map that you download from the QR plaque to go with it.

If people got to the supporting information and gave time to read it. They would clearly see its not some random junk or temporary thing that’s been installed. There is a link here, you can watch the video posted by the local councillor advertising it: https://www.facebook.com/reel/4168763849920869 . It’s also being advertised in the local infant and junior schools.

Well, I certainly had fun doing the trail, and I’m an adult.

I’d love to be able to send these dinosaurs as postcards.

That actually made it sound like it was only on over the half term break (not saying that’s the case, but just due to the way the councillor has presented it).

I see where you’re coming from. But it was supposed to mean that it’s just launched, and his encouraging them to come try it out this half term.

I suppose if it does sound that way, it doesn’t help in terms of nominations. But I know the trail is due to stay. There is supposed to be a winter event where they give dinosaur toys to kids who complete the trail and name all the dinosaurs.

For now just wait for staff to respond. I assume you didnt have any of this? If not, you can chill out a bit

Just checked, nothing as of yet, so fingers crossed that’s a good sign. :crossed_fingers:
