I wish the same had been done when ingame submissions were removed. Still having way too much trouble with the new system, can’t submit at all without taking a huge privacy risk…
As for this change - generally I think it’s more positive than negative, however including a clause where repeat offenders could still get PoGo bans if punished for the same or similar offenses multiple times over an extended period of time might be a reasonable middle ground. Especially for the more severe and/or game breaking stuff, like harassment & fake submissions.
Ideal end goal should be to avoid situations where people new to wayfarer break a rule without realizing / intending it (think people that post their submission photos elsewhere causing 3rd party photo issues) getting PoGo / other game banned, while still allowing for more firm action against those who are clearly trying to break things for personal gain or just to troll.
On that note, might not be a terrible idea to raise the minimum level to access wayfarer a bit. IIRC it’s level 35, which is really not that hard or time consuming to reach for someone determined enough.
I would personally consider that if someone receives a permanent Wayfarer ban, their violation(s) likely were pretty severe. Are people that are permanently banned from Wayfarer always also permanently banned from Scopely Explore games such as Pokemon GO?
I have read a few statements on social media of people claiming they’re still banned in games after receiving a permanent Wayfarer ban, so I would like to confirm those.
I really hope (now that wayfarer seems separated from pokemon go) wayfarer abuse ladder system can be reconsidered. I hope scopely staff can give stronger punishment to those with CLEAR intention to abuse the system. Every time i review i always find people using 3rd party foto or AI fakes.
In the other hand, I dont think this situation is what scopely explorer want. They are already swamped with many inquiries. So i really hope they seriously think of solutions to ease this situation.
You receive an email that states that an infraction (sounds less dramatic than Abuse) has been detected. This is due to “###” nomination which as been deemed to be “type of infraction”.
You then get 7 days to appeal.
If you appeal then any punishment is delayed until a final decision.
If you don’t then the punishment starts after 7 days.
I would also add that any wayspots created by an account that has been found to have been used Abusively is also at risk. This idea could be used in a “not connected to PoGo” world. At least someone that has legitimate wayspots have something they are risking if they later decide to abuse the system.
I would also extend the ladder with more rungs, and make it clear what are “minor infractions” and what are “Abuse”. 1 day warning, 1 day suspension, 1 week suspension, 1 month suspension, 3 month suspension, 6 month suspension, 1 year suspension, 2 year suspension, 5 year suspension, and change 10 year to Banned.
I think the new change is the right approach. Wayfarer is now web based and doesn’t have any ability to submit in-game. I do agree also that those who submit, new and old, should be told / educated in how to submit and what is acceptable when it comes to submissions.
What is your take on handling the deliberate abuse? Education is good for unknowing infractions (such as using third-party photos, which is not advised against when using the web submission process), but is useless for people who are knowingly creating false wayspots (e.g., using ‘AI’ to create murals on utility boxes).
The deliberate abuse would be down to whatever Scopely is able to detect. Some things that could be considered is repeated patterns of behaviour to using 3rd party images. There is probably a list of things I could spin off and still miss a few. And just for the record, I haven’t specified what should be included in the education aspect.
It should be down to Scopely’s decision depending on the severity of the abuse that they have identified. If they have identified one of my submissions as being abuse, then I should be punished for it.
It took me two years to get to level 35, and most new players quit long before then. You’re clearly above level 70, so I can see how you wouldn’t believe that level 35 is easy, but it isn’t.
Poke Daxi posted a video getting to level 40 in 11 hours. Depending on your resources, it can be easy. In other situations, it is not. Congrats to you for persevering.
Just did this review. “Community Soccer Net” was the submission. It was a picture of one of those store bought nets in their backyard. Previously, rejection reason would’ve been private property. After these ladder changes? Hammered the abuse button. No more benefit of the doubt given.
