The Wayfarer Help Center chat widget locks up after completing a conversation. Instead of allowing a new ticket to be submitted, the widget remains cached in an “open/finished” state and reloads the old thread indefinitely.
Steps to Reproduce:
Open Help Chat and submit a ticket/location edit appeal.
Complete or close the chat thread.
Attempt to open a new chat session to submit a different request.
Current Result: Reloads the closed chat history with no option to start a fresh ticket.
Workaround: Must use Incognito, a different browser, or clear site storage.
Expected Result: A “Start New Chat” button or automatic reset upon closing a ticket.
Why Fixing This Matters (Impact on Map Quality)
A functioning support chat is critical because community members rely on it to fix bad map data that cannot be corrected in-app.
Abusive Location Edits: Misplaced Wayspots moved far from their actual real-world anchor (often to stack density in other games) create artificial, hyper-dense clusters.
Blocked S2 Cells: Moving a Wayspot off its actual object into the wrong coordinates locks up that target cell. Consequently, the real-world physical object is left without a Wayspot where it belongs, preventing local players from nominating it legitimately (note: this refers to general cell blockage, not legacy Gym configurations).
Web Submission Friction: With Pokémon GO shifting to the Wayfarer Web Submission page - Upcoming Changes to Wayspot Submission
casual submitters who don’t have built-in map grid visibility end up submitting duplicate or wasted nominations on real-world anchors that are blocked by these misplaced edits.
Lack of In-Game Cell Transparency
Since cell boundaries and rules (such as the 1-PokéStop-per-L17-cell density limit) are never shown inside Pokémon GO, ordinary players naturally operate under the expectation that any real-world object can become a PokéStop. When an abusive edit shifts a Wayspot into an incorrect cell, it silently blocks valid physical anchors in that cell without any explanation to the player. Without a functioning support chat, local players have no realistic way to report these displaced Wayspots and clean up the map.
Hi and welcome. Sorry, but your post is extremely difficult to understand. Could you please explain in your own words what the technical issue you are experiencing seems to be? You can use any language. Your AI is making a lot of completely incorrect claims such as
and
It is extremely unlikely that anyone from staff will discuss cells and game sync rules with you, since this is not a process Niantic acknowledges. And all of this AI generated unrelated text is completely unnecessary if your question is about a blocked help chat ticket, which seems to be the case.
Please be respectful of the time of the readers of your post by being clear - thanks for your understanding.
well before pokemon go was a thing ingress players was the one behind submitting wayspots, yes?
There are several wayspots in the game that are misplaced into another spot say a residential building than where it should be. where they would be at home without leaving to generate inventory, and till this day there are people who submit duplicate wayspots with a image that is from another wayspot gets approved
so yes, my issue is about the blocked help chat ticket since community members rely heavily on the support chat to report bad map and misplaced wayspots
Hey @ScopelyExpAaron, thanks for following up. I have the screen recording ready, but it contains personal info (email and location) that I don’t want to post publicly on the forum
is there a support email, or form where I can submit the video safely to you?
Alternatively, I looked into using the standard Contact Us form, but there isn’t an option for bug reports under the Wayfarer issue types.
basically after the end of the ticket where it sends
“Thank you! Your ticket #??? has been created and the information has been shared with my (human) team, and you will receive an update in a few hours. Meanwhile, if you would like to send any additional information, like screenshots, you can do so by clicking the paper-clip icon at the bottom right corner of this chat window.”
without an option to open a new one, refreshing the tab leaves you in that same ticket
Yes, and that’s the point of this thread, the chat bot shouldn’t leave you at a deadend without an option to create a new ticket, its a long process to try and sign into another browser just to submit another new ticket
My bad, I had misunderstood the original report. I thought that you were unable to create a new request after the first one was closed. I now understand that you want to open multiple support requests simultaneously.
If you create multiple requests, you will lose access to all except the last one. Please wait for the existing request to get addressed and then you can create a new one.
