  • Additional Information (if any):
    Dear Wayfarer team,

I would like to request the removal of the following two Wayspots: Eva Air Building and 飛機模型(Aircraft Model).

I have reported these two locations multiple times through the in-game reporting system, but my reports have been rejected each time. I am therefore raising this issue here in the hope that it can receive a proper review and resolution.

Both Wayspots are located within EVA Air’s aircraft maintenance facility, which is a highly restricted airport area. Access is controlled by security checkpoints, and visitors must pass security inspections before entering the premises. As a result, these locations are not accessible to the general public or ordinary players who do not have the necessary authorization.

Furthermore, the surrounding area is adjacent to an airport expressway with fast-moving traffic. There is no safe or practical place for ordinary pedestrians to gather and play near these locations. Attempting to access or remain around these Wayspots could expose players to significant safety risks.

In contrast, the airport hotel and Airport MRT station on the opposite side of the road are genuinely accessible to the public and provide safer, more suitable places for the Pokémon GO community to gather and play.

Given the restricted access and potential safety concerns, I respectfully request that both Wayspots be reviewed again for their eligibility and removed if they do not meet the applicable criteria.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Wayspots don’t need to be accessible to the general public. Employees and visitors being able to access them safely is all that matters. You’re welcome to nominate the other mentioned spots

I completely understand your thinking and I don’t completely disagree, but Wooperlooper is correct. These will not be removed by staff, as they are perfectly eligible.

‘Private’ is fine, so long as it isn’t a single-family residence.

If the owners of the facility wish to remove the waypoints, then they can apply themselves.

Thank you all for your replies. I understand and respect your perspectives and the rules.

I work for the airline located directly across from the location in question. Since this area is situated between an MRT station and an airport hotel, I have seen far too many travelers attempt to cross the highway just to spin the PokéStop I raised concerns about. There have even been dangerous incidents in the past.

I believe this is not necessarily an issue that the employer would be aware of or able to identify right away.

Probably not, but unless the waypoint itself cannot be stood at safely (i.e. by staff legitimately on the premises), then I don’t think that it will be removed without an owner request.

It may also be worth pointing out that both of the waypoints you have highlighted are gyms.

Some players might be tempted to incorrectly report gyms (on various grounds) in order to get them removed and cause other, more nearby waypoints to become gyms.

If done knowingly, this is considered manipulation of the gameboard and abuse of Wayfarer.

Just something to bear in mind if staff do decline this report.

Thanks for the appeal, @leica100 .

These Gyms do not meet our criteria for removal at this time, and we stand by our decision to not retire them.

Our games are meant to augment reality, not replace it. We do encourage our users to be safe and alert at all times, abide by local laws, and respect the locations they visit and people they meet during their exploration. We advise our players to review and follow the Trainer Guidelines at all times while playing Pokémon GO to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone!

While Scopely Explore does encourage all players to abide by local laws, as stated in the games’ Terms of Service and as reiterated through in-game warnings and notifications, we ultimately cannot control or be responsible for how individual users elect to act or behave on their own volition. If you believe players are engaging in negative behavior, we encourage you to work with local law enforcement to address the issue, as you would with other individuals in your community.

Thanks,

The Wayspot “Eva Air Building” (25.067256, 121.222519) is not located in a warehouse or a publicly accessible area. Its exact location is inside EVA Air’s aircraft maintenance facility, within a highly restricted operational area accessible only to specifically authorized maintenance personnel. This is not an appropriate location for gameplay or player gathering, even for employees, given the nature of the maintenance operations and the importance of aviation safety. I respectfully request that this gym be reassessed in accordance with Wayfarer’s safety and operational interference criteria.

If the owners do not want the Wayspots on their property, They can request it is removed: Reporting a Wayspot — Wayfarer Help Center

At this point, this really feels like trying to manipulate the gameboard so that the gyms spawn in the area you work.

Staff have responded. The only people who can make this request are the owners of the property affected.

I get that it must be frustrating to see two gyms that you cannot reach from your work every single day, but it is just how things have worked out, and I don’t see any legitimate path to changing that.

It seems you still don’t understand that this location is already on the airport airside, within a restricted area controlled by the local airport authorities. Beyond this point are the aircraft taxiways and runways.

So, am I allowed to create a pokestop in the airport airside area? This has absolutely nothing to do with wanting to change the status quo. This is simply not a place where people should be playing a game. Anyway, I still appreciate your comment.

You can create a waypoint anywhere that it is safe to reach by a pedestrian who is authorised to be there.

If the gyms in question are not safe for staff to reach on foot, then you will need to provide evidence of that. So far, you’ve repeatedly talked about how these are not publicly accessible, which is irrelevant.

If the employees are playing games on their phones and this upsets the management, then they are free to request that the area is geoblocked, as has been described above.

While we understand your disappointment about the location of this Gym, based on our research, it does not require any adjustments at this time. Our games are meant to augment reality, not replace it. If you’re not certain you have the right to access a location or are not certain it is safe to access, please do not make any attempts to do so. As a player or any other member of the community, you must respect access restrictions, never trespass, or in any manner gain or attempt to gain access to any property or location where you do not have the right or permission to be. Please review and follow the Trainer Guidelines at all times while playing Pokémon GO to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone! If you are having trouble finding PokéStops or Gyms near you, please try visiting a local park, tourist attraction, or other interesting and historical locations in your community.
