How about:
- Submit waystop from pokemon go as usual (on site or remote),
- Upload it, have a setting to hold automatically, so
- It is placed on HOLD automatically,
- While editing on hold, allow to add 4 extra support photos if needed, and also allow to move pin slightly to more accurate location, and allow to edit the main/support photos (i.e. better crop / fix tilt / remove people)
I think that will help more than just extra support images)
The ability to submit without depending on a game app means that if approval is granted by each team—not just Wayfinders whose accounts were solely Ingress accounts—players of Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now will also be able to submit Wayspot candidates without needing to add features to their respective apps. I look forward to seeing an increase in new Wayfinders.
As a submitter, theoretically this is nice to avoid submitting duplicates. However since voting happens quite fast these days, I’ve never experienced the problem of submitting a duplicate of something in voting myself.
I can see it possibly being a vector for abuse in two ways:
- Harrassing specific people by putting bad content in submissions at a location where the target(s) are likely to see it, e.g. at their home or usual playing area.
- Coordinating voting manipulation more easily, by being able to check for all nominations in voting in a 10km radius.
So therefore I would support a simple marker to denote that there is a nomination in voting at a location, but would be much more hesitant about showing the title/image/description of that nomination to everyone.
This could happen eventually, but don’t expect this to be true immediately.
Honestly, wouldn’t hurt seeing spots already in voting. Helps people out not to submit the same thing again. (If it becomes too much for people could even put a button to hide them would also be cool to see declined spots so people again know not to try and submit them again which again can be put under a filter that people can turn on or off)
On Firefox mobile for Android, I got the confetti. Desktop and mobile for Android both use the same rendering engine (Gecko), so in theory should show the same thing. Rather odd.
I had the same issue there, but I let it sit for a minute and then it found me, so maybe tey waiting on the screen to see if it helps?
As an Ingress-only Wayfarer before the split, I’m very excited about this. I started playing Pikmin Bloom about a year ago, and will now have a way to contribute to that game since I still have access to Wayfarer. Would love it if edits to existing Wayspots were added in a future version!

10km range, this is not so good, its the weakest thing for pokemon go submissions, 10km isnt really that far, especially when a lot of what I submit now is on hill walks minimum 10km from my house lol. Also means rejected holiday submissions need to pass on appeal first time or never be submitted again. Please make it much bigger … or infinite
Yeah, 10km does feel like a bit of an arbitrary cutoff, I travel further than that for work every day. Perhaps it should be similar to the large reviewing area, and also allow a home/bonus location to be set.
So, while the confetti may seem like a good way to go, some may want to turn it off. Personally, I would prefer a confirmation pop-up over confetti, like how it is in PoGo while submitting.
Just wanted to add, I logged into Wayfarer for the first time in a while, and went to start a submission. It says I have 40 nominations available, which makes sense.
But then I realized I don’t have an active game account linked to Wayfarer, as Ingress is gone and PB doesn’t have access. Which is a thought that hadn’t even crossed my mind until I saw that text.
So I’m happy to know that I do actually have the ability to submit something even though I don’t play PoGO. (Assuming it actually lets me submit the nomination, but I don’t have anything to test right now.)
I’m absolutely looking forward to being able to nominate from the web the next chance I get to go on a large nomination spree, as admittedly doing it from within Pokémon GO itself is a massive hassle (Most notably in how the game can crash dozens of times in a row before uploading a pair of photos for just 1 stop. It’s taken me up to multiple hours to fully upload some of my sprees completely within the app, when I know it shouldn’t take close to that long)!
One thing I have questions over is the chosen nomination radius. For web based submissions it appears you stuck to the same radius that the in-game submissions give you. Is there going to be an opportunity to expand the radius in the future? Especially if the place I took pictures in is particularly remote relative to where I have my PC set up (like a trail system that may not have the best signal), I would definitely like to limit the length of time I have to stay on location to punch things into the database due to nomination range constraints.
I am also curious as to what the purpose of retaining PoGo’s 10km submission distance is. If the system already also has the check of ensuring that the submitted images have location data within 10km of the pin, then this system limits you severely from submitting remotely, which I guess may be the point. My hope with the web submit was that you could use it to submit after returning home from a scouting trip with images and info in hand, and not have to be near where you were exploring.
I think the 10km for photo location data is pretty generous too, and potentially ripe for abuse. I think shrinking that distance down to like a 1-2km radius is more feasible for ensuring that the submitter is taking the pictures at the location, but still be generous in allowing for potential lapses in GPS precision.
I also really like the idea of being able to add additional supplemental images after submitting (especially if we are limited to submitting within 10km so we can at least seed the initial submission while out).
In addition to the harassment vector mentioned above, a map showing wayspots that shouldn’t be accepted would be misleading — it might encourage players to submit more things like that. 
There is a bug concerning the Street View display when submitting from a mobile device browser. When you rotate or move the perspective in Street View, the pin position tracks your movement. However, the specified pin location remains unchanged when you return to the map.
Added note: On PC browsers, clicking with the cursor to specify a position locks it in place, so this phenomenon does not occur.
