Additional Information: I got this rejection to my appeal today, which stated my contribution was not at the location I gave, and marked it as abuse. I’m really unclear on how this distinction was made because no other details were provided. I know the system for whatever reason keeps registering the city as “New Hope” which it absolutely isn’t and there’s nothing I can do to fix it. So, i don’t know if the problem is that, or because it didn’t like specifically where the point was, because I wasn’t told. It just feels really insulting and presumptuous to call it abuse because of either issues within your own system, or slightly off placement which you don’t clarify. If it can’t be a waypoint, fine, that’s not a big deal. But accussing me of abuse feels excessive over what might be just a slightly off marker.

I could see it having an issue with the exact point based on a view like this

But then why couldn’t that be specificed so I could fix it next time?

If it can’t be approved, it would be nice if it could just be removed from my record and not counted against me.

That doesn’t matter and isn’t what any reviewer relies on. They rely on the coordinates at which the wayspot was submitted.

Mislocating a wayspot is abuse . If you want to, you can provide the submission coordinates as a screenshot from the submission receipt email - you will find them below the photos.

The exact coordinates from the email were 45.088332, -93.389441
So, it is abuse if I don’t know where it wants the point? That just seems very unfair. Why would I ever submit again if I’m going to be accused of abuse anytime my coordinates might be a little off?

It’s abuse if a location is obviously wrong, which this one is. I cannot see any game-advantage from doing this, so you probably only got a wayspot rejection and not any subsequent alerts.

The usual wayspot location for a building is the main entrance or a main sign. Anywhere else on the building is unusual and a little suspicious. Here, you missed the building completely.

Separately, I cannot see that this is eligible as a wayspot. How does it a place that strongly encourages Exercise, Socialisation or Exploration?

I only put it there because it was showing a totally different address at the entrance, which was odd. I also don’t recall putting it so far, but it must’ve been farther than it appeared on my screen. If it doesn’t seem notable to people, I totally get that, its very unassuming looking. But it genuinely is a big staple in the community and sees a lot of foot traffic. Lots of different businesses that offer representation for different cultures. But I mean that point I don’t argue at all, if it doesn’t seem busy enough or whatever, then it doesn’t. That’s totally cool. I guess it’s really not worth chasing this up when it has so many technical problems. I will probably just not try to submit anything again, to be honest.

Abuse is just a pretty strong word to throw around when a person makes a mistake one time. But it is what it is I guess.

The abuse narrative comes up for a lot of different reasons. Some people do deliberately mislocate things (which isn’t what I think happened here) and are trying to abuse the system.

Pay no attention to whatever address Scopely shows, which is pulled from Google Maps. It has no meaning at all. The only thing that matters is the actual coordinates.

For submitting things, always think about Exercise, Social, Explore. This comes first. If you see something interesting or something that a lot of people use, consider how it meets at least one of these three key criteria elements. If you can’t find that it is, it is unlikely to be eligible.

If you want, people would be willing to hunt around that area and suggest things to submit (how far from that location depends on what the area is like!). This wouldn’t be worth doing if you have been completely put off submitting, so it might be worth leaving it overnight and coming back tomorrow if you feel different

Ah, I see, I thought the address would be a lot more important than it is then. That makes sense.

Oh well, thank you for explaining anyway.

It is there so that you can learn and not do the same in future. When revewer report you for abuse, they cant tell if its your first time or repeat abuse. As you can see from screenshot, your submitted location is very off.

Did you receive any of below? If you didnt, then you only receive educational rejection.

Hello and welcome @LylaViBritannia

This has been a bit of a difficult time….but I am glad you came here as at least you have got an understanding of what has gone wrong and will do better in future.

I am moving this to nomination support as that is more appropriate.

If you would like some help finding other places/ objects or how to present them the community will be happy to help:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
