Request for a review af a warning which seems unjust

Hello! I submitted this spot and it was rejected for a lack of uniqueness, cultural or historical meaning - which is fair.
However it was also flagged as abuse, ridicule or harassment, which prompted an email with a warning on the abuse ladder.

I would like to contest this warning for abuse.
There is no abuse, harassment or ridicule in this nomination.
The nomination contains pictures of signs for the local bike and hiking paths.
The accompanying description translates to “this sign will show you the way along the Lihme-paths and also bicycle route 12 and 20. From here there are 2 km to Lihme city.”

I would appreciate some clarification and a second opinion for this. Thank you :slight_smile:

Name of nomination: Lihme-stierne
Country: Denmark

I have added screenshots of the emails and the nomination

As far as i know, its just educational email. Do you have something like this?

1st strike warning on abuse ladder warning will be this.

2nd strike will be suspension

Please be patient since its weekend.

The “Abuse” rejection narrative can be flagged for a nomination for any of the following reasons:

* The photo is not yours (e.g., taken from streetview, found on another website)
* The photo is fake
* The waypoint is fake
* The text itself is abusive
* The nomination is controversial and likely to be offensive (e.g., a mural of terrorists)
* Another nomination was abusive and all of yours have been flagged as a consequence
* The wayspot location pin is misplaced
* The wayspot is deliberately misrepresented (e..g., on school property but pretending it isn’t)
* The wayspot is of something that is definitely not eligible and shouldn’t have been proposed (even if it’s in the list of categories)
* (there may be others)

Oh, thank you! No, it’s not like those.
Clearly I misunderstood the email, and thought that was the first strike. I now understand that it is simply a warning reminding me of the rules and criterias. Thank you for the clarification.
I still don’t understand what was wrong, but now I’m way more chill about it!

I made several nominations in a small rural area, and was afraid that I might pinned the location wrong or something, but I double checked it and it’s exactly in the correct spot :joy:
I’m sure it’s some kind of misunderstanding.

Since it doesnt seems like bug. I am moving it to general discussion. Do you take the foto yourself. Have you ever upload the main foto elsewhere?

The location seems correct. That particular rejection usually happen because of 3rd party foto or wrong location. Take a look into @salixsorbus list. Does any of it strike a bell?

None of those examples were wrong here. I double checked the location before posting this, since I have accidently moved the pin while submitting before, but it’s exactly at the spot where I took the pictures.
I don’t think I’m in violating of any of the other rules. Obviously it was rejected, which I’m not appealing, but I don’t think it’s in violation.

I did make several nominations in the area, since it’s a rural place with few spots. We are often in the area, because it’s my father’s hometown and I’m trying to get more stops in po-go.
The first bunch i nominated were almost all rejected (most of them by the automated process) but from the second set of nominations, all were accepted except for this one :thinking:

But as long as it’s just a warning, and not a strike, I’m way less worried, even if I don’t understand it.

I took all of the photos myself and didn’t post them anywhere. I was standing on the side of the road, while taking the pictures and submitting.
The rest of the nominations I made that day (rural area with few wayspots) were accepted :woman_shrugging:t3:

My first thought was that I accidentally pinned the location wrong, but it’s in the correct place.

If nothing there rings true, there is still the chance the location was wrong. If you used a mobile browser to submit, it is extremely easy to accidentally get it wrong. This happens in two ways:

  • setting the location and then uploading a photo, as this resets the location to the photo’s coordinates

  • scrolling down to reach the Submit button, as this can easily scroll the location without you seeing

Both of these issues are on Scopely Explore, but they have so far declined to fix them or to offer a solution (such as a “lock location” button).

You can check the location in the submission receipt email - you will find the coordinates below the photos.

I did check the coordinates from the email and it definitely seem correct.
As stated, I made several nominations and some was very close together. I don’t know how to check for placement in cells, but feared that IF i had placed this wrongly, and thus accidentally placed the spot in a free cell, it would be understood as abuse.
But that’s not ikke case. The location is this 56.618237 8.734576 - i just checked it again.

One of my first approved nominations WAS accidentally moved when I was submitting, only around 10-ish metres, but it was then suddenly in a free cell. I asked for help in here, and asked to have it moved before anyone higher up caught the mistake, but if I can do that one time, I can do it twice :woman_shrugging:t3::joy:

I literally accidentally placed a spot in the wrong location in a free cell before, and was low key worried I had done it again :see_no_evil_monkey:

fyi, one of the few things i like about the new site is that it shows you the coordinates submitted in the “Location” section of the contribution now. you don’t have to refer back to the email anymore.

IIRC, this is what you get when they think you are just subbing obviously ineligible things, rather than doing anything else wrong.

I don’t see how that is the case here though, so hopefully staff scrub it from your record (unless we are all missing something!)
