EXTREMELY frustrating new system (PokemonGO)

First, the solution - PLEASE allow us to save incomplete nominations as drafts.

The situation:

I have location services on my phone set to “while using” for some apps. When I click the new pokestop submission button from the pokemonGO app and it opens my browser I AM NOT prompted to turn on location services. This results in me being unable to tag a location on the map and subsequently unable to save a draft without refreshing the page.

If this had been made clear while using the new system it would not be an issue, however, the following occured; I filled out the entire nomination form only to be unable to save a draft. None of my photos or descriptions were able to be saved and I had to screen shot all of them and redo the whole submission after I refreshed the page.

I understand you must be within 10km of the pokestop to make the submission, but that does not mean we can’t save a draft of it and come back later. Please allow us to save drafts of nominations that are incomplete.

As it currently stands the old system worked better for players who have never created a nomination before. It was much more intuitive, and the congruency with the in-game interface made it more user-friendly. It also already included a feature regarding the topic of this thread..

My recommendation is to create an empty draft at the location in question and add the photos once your connection is better. You will be able to edit and submit the draft from anywhere in the world that way.

You can’t save the draft without uploading photos and a pin on the map, so if you’re at the location and trying to set up something up real quick and then finish it later it’s extremely difficult.

The new system opens up a separate browser app from the pokemonGO app and does not prompt you for permissions on the switch.

You also need to be within 10km of the pin to drop it and would be unable to do so before or after visiting the location. So you can see how inconvenient the new system has made nominating a pokestop whereas it used to be something that was quick and easy to do in the moment.

I do that all the time - save the draft without uploading the photos. It isn’t clear that you don’t have to go in order to do the steps, but you don’t. I just did several that way this weekend where I had very low signal. Went back to the hotel room to add the photos. And no, I don’t have any extra tools installed on my phone to be able to do this.

Strange.. I was just using it for the first time this morning and the “Save as Draft” button was grayed out until I marked a pin on the map and my map wouldn’t load. So yeah, had to refresh and lost everything without being able to save it because I couldn’t place a pin.

So I have narrowed it down very specifically since no one else seemed to be having a problem.

If you have already denied location services for your browser app during the session you won’t be prompted again when a new tab is opened through the game app. This will cause your map to fail to load and you’ll have to reload the browser app or turn services on manually beforehand.

You DO have to drop a pin for it to be saved as a draft, as far as i can tell, but the rest of information can mostly be left blank as long as you write something for the name.

Oh I am sure this is going to help a lot of people! So glad you figured out what was happening.

You are definitely not the only one having a problem. I would have never thought about asking if you have already denied location services for the session. Thanks for reporting this.

I am still not sure I could talk someone through what they need to do, but hopefully they will see your post. At least if they try to set the pin first, they can see if it is going to be an issue to save the draft before going to all the effort.
